Seniors Mens Report

The final event, Shield Final came around for all shield competitors at Albert Park on the 11th of February, in what was a pleasant but long day for most athletes and all team managers.  The aim coming in for the men’s open team was to win both premierships for Division 1 and 2.  The end result was close to perfect, with a Division 1 premiership and a competitive runner up for Division 2.  This was an outstanding result considering the injuries we had during the year, and to come that close to winning both premierships shows why the Glenhuntly Men’s team has the most depth compared with other clubs.

The highlights for the day from both Division 1 and 2 include the following:

-Jarrod Shepherd (22.99) and Aaron Miller (23.43) for Division 1 200m.

-Luke Hennessy (14.48.4) in the 5K.

-Both our Division 1 and 2 4 x 400m GHY relay teams winning by significant margins.

-Rhydian Cowley (12.26.0) in Division 1 3K walk.

-Division 2 Triple Jump Beau Lang jumping a PB 12.12m.

-Brendan Miller 1.75m in Division 1 High Jump.

-Patrick Beraun 11.93m Division Shot Put.

These are just some of the highlights for the day but there were many other very good performances on the day, and most importantly through out the entire season to help give us the chance to finish the season on such an outstanding note. I would therefore like to thank all open men’s athletes, team managers and the captain for the great effort through out the season, without this team effort these results would not be possible. I would like to wish everyone that has upcoming championships the best of luck and for everyone else that has finished, a great off-season.  This way next season we can gain our third Division 1 premiership in four seasons and possibly a Division 2 premiership as well, but most importantly go for back to back Division 1 premierships!

Congratulations to all the hunter women on what was an amazing team effort for shield finals. Our team did not disappoint, with many fantastic performances on the track and in the field resulting in numerous placings and all contributing to our overall points tallies, with our Div 1 team finishing 3rd and Div 2 also coming in 3rd- WELL DONE!
Thanks so much to all the girls in the team for being so organised and for giving it their all; Abbey, Niccola, Emily, Eva, Kellie, Amelia, Laura, Ellia, Josie, Molly, Juliet, Simone & Noni.
Huge huge thanks to Anna T for taking on the enormous task of organising team- thanks so much for all your work the entire week before finals and on the day. Thanks also to Maureen for her help in organsing the team as well- very much appreciated!
Congratulations on such a wonderful season overall; this season has proved to everyone that hard work and dedication definitely does pay off, and that it is most important to enjoy your running and competing with the team.
Best wishes to those competing in the State champs early March- keep those amazing performances coming!
Looking forward to seeing you all at Summer presentation night and around the track for some pre-season training and cross-country runs!

A big! congratulations to all the U/14 and U/18 girls for such fantastic team effort throughout the whole day, everyone gave their best, and you can’t ask for anymore.
There were lots of pbs on the day, from the 200m sprints, 200m and 400m hurdles, HJ, TJ, hammer throw, 800m, walk and 3000m run.
Well done!!
Support on the day was coming from everywhere, parents, friends and even the injured came to show their support for their team mates.
Thank you to all, for your reliability, enthusiasm, encouragement and of course team spirit!
It has been a pleasure being your team manager this season, and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2012 / 2013 season.

Congratulations to all Hunter Junior Men on a fantastic Shield season!!

In addition to the many PBs recorded by our athletes, another significant attribute was evident amongst our Junior Hunters – team spirit!

This team spirit motivated Under 14s to run in relays with Under 16s and Under 18s, inspired throwers to run in track events and track athletes to try the jumps. The drive to make finals was so powerful that age groups seemed to disappear as all worked towards their common goal.

Well done! You all contributed to the Under 18 and Under 16s Shield Final eligibility.

These results belong to all of you.

A special thank you to those who competed in the Final: Under 18 – Callum Carothers, Sean Farnan, Jack Marquardt and Braydn Tatham; Under 16 – Chris Hibbert, Ben Kelly, Marcus La Greca, Tom McLean, Declan Murphy, Nick Parkinson, Xavier Tierney and Sebastian Zammit. You all did a fantastic job!

Although the Shield summer season has finished, the Hunter calendar is still very full. Good luck to the Juniors who are competing in the Victorian Track & Field Championships this week and to those who go on to represent Victoria at the National Championships in Sydney next month. Best wishes also to those who compete in the winter comps – I look forward to hearing about your achievements.

Finally – don’t forget to register for the 2012-2013 season.
