It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Glenn Turnor to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Athletics Victoria.
Glenn was appointed following an extensive recruitment process, and has today, commenced his duties at AV.
With a diverse professional background in management, law and business development, Glenn has held senior positions at Telstra, V8 Supercars Australia and Dick Johnson Racing with the latter based on the Gold Coast. Returning to Melbourne in 2011, Glenn was the General Manager of SuperSprint who partnered with both AV and AGPC earlier this year on the Grand Prix Fun Run.
As a former athlete, Glenn has a strong appreciation and understanding for what is involved with running events, as well the support, expertise and commitment required from athletes, coaches, clubs officials and volunteers who are at the core of our sport and provide a great experience for everyone involved.
“Athletics is commonly seen to be an ‘individuals’ sport but what we may have forgotten is that the sport caters for all levels of experience and enthusiasm from elite to club to weekend warriors to first timers, but more importantly for people that would like to be involved in a healthy, active lifestyle” said Turnor.
“Over the coming weeks I hope to meet as many of your club representatives as possible and to continue to build a strong working relationship for athletics in Victoria. I am really looking forward to working with the team at AV along with all of our partners, clubs, officials, coaches, members and volunteers who collectively promote and manage athletics across all regions and channels”.
It has already been a strong start to the calendar year and we are really excited to welcome Glenn to the AV team and the athletics family.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Glenn, you can do so at Round 1 of XCR on Saturday, 27 April at Jells Park.
