Victorian 5000m Championships 2013

Last Thursday 5 women from Glenhuntly took to Lakeside for the 5000m Victorian Championships. Alongside myself were Alice, Amelia, Karinna and Stacey.

In a PB of over a minute Stacey placed 2nd in the B race to run a blinding 18.21.98, I was 5th in 18.42.13 and Alice 8th in her debut at the distance in a time of 20.18.08. Luckily it was an enjoyable experience and she’s already looking forward to her next race.

The excitement heated up in the A race with the Glenhuntly girls running in the lead groups. Amelia ran an epic new personal best of 16.45.92, in the process also running a 3km PB, she held onto the lead pair for the first 10 laps then fought back to take 2nd.

Karinna ran hard to place 4th in 16.54.81, also a PB and her first sub 17 minute run. It was a fantastic night of racing from both Victorian and interstate athletes alike and was great to see so many Hunters on the track.
