Byrne, Spencer, Scholz and O’Sullivan finish 1,2,3, and 4 to light up Perth.

At the Australian Junior titles just concluded in Perth (Sun March 13) Christine Byrne, in finishing second to a New Zealander, took out the women’s Under 18 sprint GOLD in the excellent time of 12.17. A very impressive result by Christine, making it back to back wins at the Aussies. VERY VERY EXCITED by this result. Christine also took out BRONZE in the U18 200m in a quick 24.77 (24.80Q)
In a very tight finish Adam Spencer U16, again showed his outstanding ability by gaining SILVER in the 800m, just 0.05 from GOLD. Another really top effort from Adam following his recent club record over the same distance.Adam clocked 1:59.00.
Jesse Scholz U17 took out BRONZE in the 400m Hurdles U17 in a quick 56.88 in another close finish. Jesse has had a great shield season combining hurdles and 400m to stamp himself as one to watch in the future. He ran 58.57q in his first round qualifier.
Sophie O’Sullivan just missed a medal over 1500m U16, finish 4th but in so doing took the club record set last year by Georgie Macdonald with a top effort time of 4:36.76. Well done Sophie.

In other efforts, Haftu Strintzos impressed again with a 3000m U18 placing of 6th in a time of 8:49.10. Great to see his talent showing out. Jesse Scholz also made the final of the 400m U17 to finish 8th in 52.1 (50.06Q). A big weekend. Samantha Miller was our sole field gamer in the U18 Javelin with an impressive throw of 36.35m Great effort Samantha. Dana Dekkers U20 was a little off colour in her 5000m and finished with 13th in a time of 19:35.30. Dana has had a great season and while a little disappointed with her run, has shown a great talent and good resilience and attitude to running and will have many more top efforts ahead of her.
